Jah, first of all, it’s amazing to have you as part of our team in Helsinki. Tell us a bit about your choice to leave sunny Thailand for the freezing winters in Finland 😊

Moving from the tropical warmth of Bangkok to the chilly winters of Helsinki might seem like a bold decision, but it was driven by a mix of personal and professional motivations. I’ve always called Bangkok home, and it was there that I spent my first decade in transfer pricing, working at a Big 4 firm and other consulting companies. However, in June 2023, I decided to take a leap of faith and move to Helsinki to be with my Finnish husband.

Once I arrived in Finland, I quickly became familiar with Aibidia, a Finnish startup focused on revolutionizing transfer pricing with technology. Aibidia’s mission to innovate in this space deeply resonated with me. As someone who understands the challenges and inefficiencies in the transfer pricing industry, I knew this was the opportunity I had been waiting for. It was time for me to step outside my comfort zone and transition from traditional advisory work to a tech-driven approach. The chance to work with Aibidia’s innovative solutions and join this exciting team was something I couldn't pass up.

Describe a typical day for you at Aibidia.

A typical work day begins with a routine focused on well-being and preparation for the day ahead. My mornings start at 7 a.m. with some yoga, stretching, or mobility exercises. Then, I take a 20-minute walk to our Helsinki office, where I assist clients in automating their transfer pricing documentation processes using our cutting-edge solutions. I also provide advisory services to complement our technology and offer further support where needed.

However, my work is not limited to client interaction. I collaborate closely with colleagues from various teams, including our product team to refine and enhance our platform, the customer success team to improve our service delivery, and the sales team to identify opportunities where our solutions can bring value to potential customers.

After a busy day, I unwind with another walk home, using the time to reflect on the day’s achievements and mentally prepare for tomorrow’s challenges.

What was the moment you knew you made the right decision in joining Aibidia?

When I reflect on my decision to join Aibidia, one particular moment stands out. During my first few weeks of onboarding, I felt incredibly welcomed by the teams in both Helsinki and London. The support and camaraderie were evident right from the start, which showed me how much Aibidia truly values its people. But it wasn’t just the people that made me feel confident in my choice—it was also the technology.

One of the most exciting moments came when I first used our TPDoc solution to automate a Local File. It was thrilling to see the potential of our data-driven solutions firsthand. I realized that these technologies didn’t just improve compliance; they had the power to transform the entire transfer pricing process. From that moment, I knew I had made the right choice. Every day now, I wake up excited to continue learning and collaborating with exceptional colleagues and customers to solve complex transfer pricing challenges through technology.

Our Professional Services team has grown significantly recently. We’re very proud to still have a 50-50 male to female ratio on this team. Could you tell us about your experience being a woman in an industry as traditional as tax?

The tax and transfer pricing industry has traditionally been seen as a male-dominated field, but from my experience, I don’t necessarily see it that way. The focus in this field tends to be on technical expertise, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, which creates a relatively gender-neutral environment. That said, I do acknowledge that unconscious biases can still exist, and it’s important to treat everyone with respect, challenge stereotypes, and foster an inclusive environment.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work with incredibly talented colleagues from diverse backgrounds. I’ve learned so much from them, and I truly believe that embracing different perspectives makes us better professionals. The industry is changing, and I’m proud to contribute to creating a more inclusive, respectful, and supportive workplace. By being open and vulnerable, we can create more connections and opportunities for growth.

Tell us about something that happened here that could only happen at Aibidia.

One thing that makes Aibidia special is the incredible support and energy that permeate throughout the company. From the start, I’ve been impressed by the passion of my colleagues. It’s contagious and truly inspiring to see everyone working together towards a shared goal. Whether we’re pushing the boundaries of innovation or celebrating a team success, Aibidia’s vibrant culture is one of a kind. It’s a place where ideas come to life, and we are all committed to making a real difference in the industry.
